Festus Eduafo, a 28-year-old auto mechanic, was wrongfully lynched by the Youth of Komenda-Aburansa in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abraim Municipality of the Central Region.
According to Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the deceased was going to visit his five-year-old son who is staying with his elder sister and brother-in-law at Komenda-Aborbeano on Monday, July 4, 2022, at around 5:00 p.m.
Hon. Prince Acquah, Assembly Member for Ekumfi Asaafa, where the deceased hailed from, stated that the deceased was with his junior brother in Accra over the weekend, so he left Accra around 10:00 a.m. on Monday and arrived in Aburansa, where he planned to take a taxi to Aborbeano.
All attempts by the deceased’s brother-in-law and sister to reach him on the phone were futile, and they became increasingly concerned because, according to their calculations, the deceased should have arrived at his destination by the time he set off, but he was nowhere to be found.
On Tuesday, July 5, all attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, so a report was filed at Komenda Police Station.
So it was on Wednesday, July 6, when someone called his mother from the deceased phone and informed her that the owner of the phone had been lynched by Aburansa residents who had wrongfully identified him as a thief.
The murdered person was identified as him after viewing some video of the scene, and the police were notified.
Meanwhile, information gathered revealed that the deceased’s body is nowhere to be found, while other rumors claim that he was secretly buried in the bush by the Komenda-Aburansa Youths.
The deceased was said to have been sent to the Chief’s Palace after being severely beaten, but the Youth warned the Chief to stay away from the matter, so he was killed and allegedly buried secretly.
Meanwhile, residents of Ekumfi Asasfa are seeking justice for the innocent man and have petitioned the Inspector General of Police and the Central Regional Police Commander to arrest all those responsible for the deceased’s lynching.
The deceased’s family is still looking for his final resting place.
A report indicates that six Youth from the Komenda-Aburansa were arrested but four have been released living two in the Komenda Police Custody assisting police with Investigation.
