The six people detained in connection with the murder of a soldier at Ashaiman, Imoro Sherrif, have been remanded into prison custody.
The six people who were detained between March 9 and March 12 in various locations showed up in front of the Ashaiman circuit court.
Police claim that two of the suspects attacked the soldier, stabbed him in the arm, and then fled while carrying his phone.
The deceased’s phone was allegedly bought by the other four after it was stolen by them.
On Monday, the solicitor for the four people accused of purchasing the phone asked the judge to grant his clients’ bail because they are unconnected to either the robbery or the alleged killing.
However, the prosecution objected to the bail application, claiming that the accused do not have a permanent address.
The judge after considering the case remanded the four accused persons together with the other two into prison custody to reappear on March 27, 2023. The suspects include Safianu Musah alias Dayorgu, Ibrahim Abdul and Samuel Tetteh alias Wiper.
Others include Yussif Mohammed, Gafaru Abdul Karim, and Abubakar Sadick alias Birdman, who were all apprehended by police after nearly a week of painstaking operations guided by intelligence.
According to the police, the soldier was attacked in Ashaiman Taifa as he was walking back from his female friend’s house in Ashaiman Newtown.
On March 9, the body of Imoro Sheriff, who was discovered in a pool of blood close to the Amania Hotel in Ashaiman, was laid to rest.
