Yaw Donkor, 73, died after a fire gutted three single rooms in a compound house at Akyem Asuboa in the Asene Manso Akroso District of the Eastern Region.
The fire, which broke out Wednesday morning behind the chief’s palace, destroyed three single rooms and a wooden kitchen structure, as well as all of its contents.
Unfortunately, the 73-year-charred old’s body was discovered immediately after firefighters extinguished the fire.
Other occupants were rescued, according to the Eastern Regional Fire Service Commander ACFO Jennifer Naa Yaaley Quaye, who confirmed the incident to Citi News.
She revealed that her team has begun investigating the cause of the fire.
In a related development, a fire on Sunday destroyed some rooms at the Volta Region’s Kpando Aloyi Police rented quarters.
According to a police situational report, all of the personnel’s belongings were completely burned in the process.
The Ghana National Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to other rooms in the apartment. It took about two hours for the firefighters to completely extinguish the fire.
