The Ghana Education Service (GES) has expelled eight students from the Upper East Region’s Chiana Senior High School for allegedly insulting President Akufo-Addo.
The students had been suspended prior to their dismissal.
According to the GES, its investigation into the incident confirmed that the students used derogatory language toward the President.
It has thus described the students’ actions as “very undesirable, and contrary to the generally acceptable standards of conduct required of any student in Ghana’s educational system.”
The GES had previously apologised to President Akufo-Addo for the remarks made by students.
“We would like to inform the general public that the students in the video are second-year students at Chiana Senior High School in the Kassena Nankana West District.
“Management of GES wishes to extend our heartfelt apologies to the President and the general public on behalf of the students and school,” according to portions of a statement issued on November 14, 2022.
