A 27-year-old man named Prince Yoma was arrested by police in Sehwi for shooting a motorbike rider he boarded in the bush.
According to the information gathered, the suspect hired Charles Bosompim, a motorbike rider from Sehwi Essase, a farming community in the Akontombra district, to transport him to Sehwi Ahibenso in the Bodi district.
The suspect is said to have diverted their route through a remote area, claiming to have received the fare from a colleague working in a nearby mining site.
On the way, the suspect, Prince Yoma, pulled out a locally made pistol and fired unprovoked at the motorbike rider’s neck.
According to the victim, who told Adom News about the incident, he fell flat and pretended to be dead while the suspect retrieved items of interest to him, including the motorbike.
After the suspect fled the scene, the victim revealed that he rushed to seek assistance from some locals, who assisted him.
He was taken to Sehwi Juaboso Hospital but was later transferred to Asafo and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. He is, however, being treated.
The police were notified, and an ambush was set up to apprehend the suspect.
While the investigation is ongoing, the suspect is being held in police custody in Bodi. The suspect’s motorbike, two Ghana cards, a pistol, and other items were recovered.
