According to Graphic Online, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, plans to leave office in the next two weeks.
He has started the handover procedures and intends to submit his resignation letter to the presidency soon.
According to Graphic Online’s sources, part of the reignation process of submitting the letter will take place today (Tuesday, Jan 10, 2023).
However, if President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo accepts the resignation, it could take effect within the next two weeks.
Dr. Owusu Afriyie has expressed interest in leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2024 general election.
All ministerial appointees are expected to leave office to focus on their campaigns, according to NPP rules.
Another flagbearer candidate, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a cabinet minister in charge of Trade and Industry, resigned last week to focus on his campaign.
In the fourth quarter of this year, the NPP intends to elect a flagbearer for Election 2024. (2023).
