Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister of Trades and Industry, has resigned, The Chronicle can confirm.
The Chronicle can also confirm that Jubilee House was not surprised to receive the resignation letter last night.
He was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry during the first term of the Akufo-Addo government and has held that position throughout the second term.
No reason for the resignation has been given, as the decision has yet to be made official, following the submission of the resignation letter on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, close sources say his resignation clears the way for him to openly advocate for his ultimate goal of leading the New Patriotic Party into the presidential elections in 2024.
Mr Alan Kyerematen, 67, has been attempting to lead the New Patriotic Party since 2007, but has yet to be successful.
However, he has held key positions in the NPP’s last four governments, including those of John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whose second administration is currently in office.
