Clients of the Births and Deaths Registry have been stranded for the past three weeks as a result of the head office’s operations ceasing due to a power outage.
According to a Citinewsroom report obtained by GhanaWeb, the institution’s Central Registry has been unable to print or issue certificates for more than three weeks due to a power outage.
The Birth and Death Registry management claims that it is making every effort to restore power to the facility.
“We have a power problem. First, we were taking precautionary measures by reducing power to prevent anything untoward from happening. However, it has now retracted slightly. They are working on it and hope to have the light fixed within a week, according to the Registry’s Public Relations Officer, Adam Abdulai.
The public has been urged to use the institution’s internet portal for services related to births and deaths.
“This is a great opportunity for people to know that we have an online platform they can access, and you don’t need to come to any births and deaths registry office to start your process. Our entire service offering is available online at https://www.ghana.gov.gh. Search for births and deaths when you visit there
“I would like to inform the public that when people are born, our services are best accessed at the district levels rather than walking to the head offices,” the Public Relations Officer for the Births and Deaths Registry stated.
