Following a month-long break due to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the Ghana Premier League will resume today, Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
Today, Accra Great Olympics will host Aduana Stars, while Nosatreman FC will welcome Hearts of Oak.
The Ghanaian top flight took a break in November to prepare for the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Danlad Ibrahim of Asante Kotoko and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Hearts were the only two local players named to Ghana’s squad for the tournament.
The duo, however, did not make many appearances as the Black Stars were eliminated from the group stage.
Ghana was placed in the same group as Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay, but only managed one win, resulting in the team finishing last in the group.
Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria scored in the first half to give the South Americans a 2-0 lead.
France, on the other hand, came from behind to tie the game, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice to force extra time.
Argentina took the lead again in the second half of extra time, but Mbappe responded by completing his hat-trick, and the game ended 3-3.
Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni both missed in the ensuing penalty shootout, which Lionel Scaloni’s team won 4-2 on penalties.
However, the return of the Ghana Premier League means that Ghanaian fans can look forward to more football games during the holiday season.
