All You Need to know about the National Rental Assistance Scheme (NRAS)
About National Rental Assistance Scheme
The Government of Ghana established the National Rental Assistance Scheme in 2022 to address and address the rent advance issue that has unfairly burdened the Ghanaian people for a very long time.
Our sole goal is to make renting in Ghana more affordable and accessible to all Ghanaian renters, without exception.
Our objective is to implement this programme in all 16 regions of Ghana and make our services available to any adult Ghanaian who is employed by a company or is self-employed and able to make regular, affordable rent payments
The National Rental Assistance Scheme is focused on paying your rent advance directly to the landlord, which you then repay in monthly instalments.
Why the National Rental Assistance Scheme – NRAS ?
As of December 2022, it was projected that Ghana will have a shortage of about 5 million rooms, assuming that each room has two occupants. And as the population rises and the rural-urban migration keeps up, this deficit is predicted to worsen.
Based on these factors, the National Rental Assistance Scheme was established to provide rent relief to the average Ghanaian renter, enabling them to pay their rent on a monthly basis, which is how rent is typically paid around the world.
