Lawrence Agyekum, a former WAFA midfielder, believes his best game in the Ghana Premier League was the match between WAFA and Hearts of Oak in the final game of the 2020/21 season.
WAFA made history this season by finishing third in Ghana’s top flight, their best finish since their debut in the league.
As part of that, the Academy players needed a win on the final day of the season to secure their position, as Aduana FC were not far behind.
However, Agyekum was one of the best players on the day at the WAFA Park as the Sogakope-based side defeated the eventual league champions to claim that spot.
When asked about his best Premier League game in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports, the 19-year-old didn’t hesitate to pick that one.
“The last game before the league ended against Hearts of Oak,” he explained.
“We won 1-0. We needed to win that game in order to secure third place. I really irritated them. “I made them have nightmares.”
The teenager also chose his goal against Karela United that season as his best in the league.
“In Cape Coast, my best goal was against Karela United. “I dribbled past five players before lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper.”
Agyekum currently plays in the Austrian league for Red Bull Salzburg after joining the club from WAFA in February 2022.
