The Okyehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, has appealed to Ghanaians to assist in the construction of the National Cathedral.
According to him, this will save the country and President Akufo-Addo from embarrassment.
“So I’m pleading with you all, let us not bring shame upon our country and the President, let us contribute to the cathedral’s construction,” he said.
The Okyehene made the appeal while speaking to the National Cathedral’s Board of Trustees on Friday.
He urged the trustees to work hard to complete the Cathedral in order to glorify God.
“He [Akufo-Addo] must glorify the Lord for how far He has brought him and construct the cathedral to demonstrate his gratitude to God for making him President.” This is the best possible news. There will be no need to travel to Israel because the cathedral will answer all of your questions about Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, and everything else.
The National Cathedral project has been plagued by controversies since its inception.
Individuals and civil society organizations have questioned its relevance, particularly in light of the current economic crisis.
The government, on the other hand, is steadfast in its determination to see the project through to completion.
Meanwhile, according to the Executive Director of the National Cathedral Secretariat, the Project has stalled due to a lack of funds.
