Tamale City and Asante Kotoko drew 1-1 at the Aliu Mahama stadium on Wednesday, scoring two second-half goals each. Defender Issah Nyaabila scored an own goal in the 83rd minute to give Asante Kotoko the lead, but three minutes later, substitute Babamu Ibrahim capitalised on sloppy defending in the box to equalise.
The champions took the lead when Issah Nyaabila directed a teasing low cross aimed at Samuel Boateng into his own net.
With the Champions cruising to victory, Babamu Ibrahim fired in a rebound after the Asante Kotoko backline failed to clear a throw in.
Asante Kotoko now sits in third place with 20 points, one point behind leaders Aduana FC and one ahead of archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak, who play on Thursday.
In their last three games, the League champions have yet to win.
Other places in Tarkwa- Medeama SC bounced back from a 3-0 loss to Dreams FC on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Nsoatreman FC at Akoon Park.
Captain Kwasi Donsu and new recruit Jonathan Sowah scored in each half to give Tarkwa a comfortable victory. With 17 points, they now sit in seventh place in the League standings.
Legon Cities failed to capitalise on their home advantage, losing 0-0 to Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Berekum Chelsea won 1-0 over Karela United thanks to a last-second goal. Forward Mezack Afriyie scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute of extra time, his seventh of the season, to give the ‘Bibires’ all three points at Berekum’s Golden City Park.
FC Samartex 1996 battled back to defeat Bechem United FC 1-0, their first victory in four League games. Seidu Abubakar scored the game’s only goal in the 83rd minute at Nsenkyire Park.
