Road Transport Operators have announced a 15.3% reduction in transportation fares beginning Monday, December 19, 2022.
According to operators, the reduction applies to shared taxis, intra-city (Trotro), intercity (Long distance), and haulage.
“With the recent reductions in the price of petroleum products, it became necessary to engage stakeholders to give consideration to a review of the fares in line with the Administrative Instrument. As a result, a series of negotiation meetings with stakeholders were held to agree on an acceptable level of fare reduction commensurate with current fuel prices,” the Operators said in a statement on Friday.
Commercial transportation companies have been instructed to comply with the new fares and post them at their loading terminals.
The most recent review saw a 19% increase in transportation fares.
