Reading left-back Baba Rahman was praised by Black Stars coach Otto Addo for his performance against Portugal.
Rahman made his World Cup debut with an assist, but his failure to intercept the pass that set up Joao Felix’s goal for Portugal earned him a lot of criticism on social media.
Some have suggested that the veteran defender sit out the games against South Korea and Uruguay, but Otto Addo is not one of them.
“Baba Rahman made an excellent defense. I made some good passes early on. The issue was his position, and I will admit that he was unlucky and made a mistake. But he did so well “At the post-match press conference, Otto Addo stated.
Ghana are in a difficult position to qualify for the knockout stages after being defeated 3-2 by Portugal on Thursday in Doha.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a controversial penalty in the second half to give his team the lead. Ghana’s Andre Ayew then equalized, but Portugal took the lead again with two goals in three minutes from Joao Felix and Rafael Leao, before Osman Bukari’s close-range header set up a tense finish.
Ghana will look to bounce back against South Korea on Monday, November 28 at the Education City Stadium.
